Traffic Regulations

Let me first tell you about the driving. Driving is cool, as long as you follow the rules. At some places a speed camera is kept to detect the speed of your car. If you exceed a particular speed in that zone, the camera can catch your registration number and a big fine is levied. Maximum speed is between 50 to 60 km/ hr. If a police car is chasing you, your first duty is to pull over immediately and stay in your car till the police approaches. If any police car is speeding for some emergency, you have to pull your car to the left side of the road and allow the police car to pass. The same goes with the fire engine and the ambulance. Every offence committed in driving is recorded and filed.
At cross roads, there is a GIVE WAY sign. This means, you need to slow down and give way to the vehicles on your right. At some places there are two double yellow lines marked. This means STOP. You need to stop and check for other vehicles. Wherever there is a Zebra Crossing, the car has to stop and allow people to pass. There is something called as 'Courtesy Crossing’. This means, the car has to stop for the pedestrians to cross. It is usually painted in a different colour. At main city centers, there is a pedestrian push button to cross the road.
Where there is a yellow line marked on the road, you cannot stop or park, as a rule. You can park at places which has a white line marked near the side of the road. There are paid and non-paid parking areas. You need to display the coupon in your car, else the warden sticks a fine coupon on your car, if you exceed the time limit. Every car must have a WOF (Warrant of fitness), which is done after 6 months for old cars. New cars need to do that only after completing 6 years. Sometimes the police may stop you and conduct an alcohol test. This is a simple procedure, where you need to just say your name, & the amount of alcohol intake can be detected. If you follow the rules as a driver or a pedestrian life can be easy & safe.
